Shibuya ward is located in the southwestern region of central Tokyo with each of its districts having their own unique vibe. The northern districts of Shibuya ward - like Yoyogi and Sendagaya - have similar characteristics to the Shinjuku area. Toward the center, around Shibuya Station, are areas well known for upscale residences and trendy cafes, like Jingumae (Harajuku and Omotesando), Tomigaya, and Shoto.
Shibuya station is the 2nd biggest train commuter hub in Tokyo, with access to 10 different rail lines. This area is considered the center of pop culture by many of the young generation, and is also considered Tokyo's IT and technology hub, attaching major corporations like Google.
One of the areas popular among the locals is Yoyogi-koen, which is free of charge and is well-known for its hanami, autumn leaves, and Meiji Jingu (the most famous shrine to visit in Tokyo to start the New Year). It is also home to the famous Shibuya Crossing, where celebrations and festivities such as Halloween, New Year's eve, and World Cups are held.
Moving further south are the districts of Daikanyama, Ebisu, and Hiro, popular among the expat community, are also known for their fashionable and upscale image.
Finally, in the western area of the ward and accessible by the Keio Line lies Hatagaya, which is considered one of the more affordable areas of Shibuya.
